What You’ll Experience
Julie Bass Kaplan FNP-BC & Candice Dery RDMS have put together a unique and intimate 2-day Workshop which takes Human Donor facial anatomy, Complications & Ultrasound Combined! Join us for an intimate two-day course with Julie Bass Kaplan FNP-BC & Candice Dery RDMS.
This course is accredited and provides 16 hours of CME for doctors, dentists, physician associates, nurse practitioners, and nurses. Candice Dery will teach essential fundamentals of ultrasound & Julie will discuss facial anatomy and discovering danger zones for facial fillers utilizing ultrasound. Julie places a heavy focus on anatomy & safer techniques. There will be more hands-on time focusing on how to identify structures and various types of fillers & threads.
We will have one cadaver specimen, which Julie will dissect one side for reference. The other side will be available to scan and inject. Attendees can practice techniques utilizing ultrasound guidance on the cadaver & will get hands-on ultrasound practice with live models as well.
Limit 14 attendees. MindRay Ultrasounds will be provided as well as Handheld devices such as Phillips & Clarius devices. If you have a handheld ultrasound, please bring it with you.
We look forward to this intimate workshop with you!
Live cadaveric dissection and guided injection techniques focused on safety
Real-time ultrasound scanning on both cadaver specimens and live models
Advanced injection techniques with detailed facial mapping using ultrasound
Direct access to international anatomy and ultrasound experts
Intimate learning environment with small cohorts to maximize interaction
- Day-by-day curriculum:
Day 1 (Friday): Ultrasound Fundamentals and Scanning Proficiency
This day is dedicated to understanding ultrasound in the context of aesthetic medicine—what it is, how it works, and how to become clinically comfortable using it. Instruction is led by Candice Dery, RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer), who brings extensive diagnostic sonography experience with a specialization in facial ultrasound. Training emphasizes real-world scanning skills and practical ultrasound application, including the role of ultrasound in evaluating and navigating adverse events.
Day 2 (Saturday): Anatomy and Complications (Cadaver + Ultrasound-Guided Application)
Led by Julie Bass Kaplan, FNP-BC, utilizing one cadaveric donor for anatomical exploration and applied instruction. Half of the donor is dissected to demonstrate layers and structures; the non-dissected half is used to demonstrate injection techniques and ultrasound-guided injections. Participants receive hands-on practice with the donor specimen, with a strong focus on adverse event prevention and management using ultrasound.
- Hands-on scanning:
A defining feature of this workshop is scanning volume and repetition. Participants scan one another extensively, gaining significant hands-on experience with live scanning and ultrasound interpretation.
- Ultrasound devices utilized:
Participants utilize both Mindray and Clarius ultrasound systems during the workshop.
- Meals, lodging, and included materials:
Meals: Breakfast and lunch provided Friday and Saturday, plus one home-cooked dinner on Friday evening at Julie & Jory’s home.
- Lodging: Optional no-cost accommodations in one of two Bed & Breakfast homes for Thursday and Friday nights only.
Included materials: Candice’s ultrasound book, Head & Breakfast T-shirt, personalized Yeti rambler, notebook, pen, certificate of attendance, and 16 hours CME.
Community: Access to the Head & Breakfast Alumni WhatsApp group.
- Best suited for:
Clinicians who want an intensive ultrasound experience—building scanning confidence, learning to correlate anatomy with sonoanatomy, and developing structured, ultrasound-guided approaches to complication prevention and management, supported by focused cadaver application.
